Hello, I am David Mateer. I am seeking your support and vote to join the Sun City Lincoln Hills Board of Directors.
My wife Linda and I looked at many active adult communities before making Lincoln Hills our next home. When we explored the community, we knew we found the right place and moved to Lincoln Hills in 2012. We have found friendly, welcoming residents and many opportunities to create an enjoyable lifestyle.
In addition to enjoying the clubs and amenities here, I felt it was important to get involved and give back. So shortly after getting settled, I joined Neighbors InDeed as a Handy Helper. I have continued to be a Handy Helper for the past 12 years. In 2017, I became even more involved and joined one of the committees in our community, and I am currently serving on my second committee, as a member of the Finance Committee.
My working experience with Honda North America in process and computer system design and development has assisted me in my roles on these committees. My educational background with a Bachelor of Mathematics and a Master’s in Business Administration also became valuable in contributing as a member of the Finance Committee.
So, why am I running for the Board of Directors? I still feel it is important to contribute and work to make things better. That is also true for our association. With my service on the committees, I have had the opportunity to learn and understand many aspects of the operation of our community. Our association is now over 25 years old. I believe there is a substantial opportunity to improve our organization and process maturity. Improvements here will allow the association to increase operational effectiveness while providing improved service and value for our residents. This will also minimize the disruptive effect of staffing changes.
During my management career, continual improvement and process improvement were constant drivers. Our facilities and services have seen improvements over the years. I believe that should continue however we should also improve our processes to provide additional efficiency and value for our residents.
The association can not provide all things to all of our residents. By design, our community has clubs and other organizations that help to meet those needs. The association does and should support the operations of those clubs and organizations. All of these clubs should be supported and treated fairly, just as all residents must be treated equally, fairly, and with respect.
I do not have any specific agenda items, but rather to make everything we do better and focus on providing value and an enjoyable lifestyle for all our residents. I understand that may mean very different things to different people. The Strategic Planning efforts will provide some guidance for future facilities and service changes. A balance of short-term, mid-term, and long-term plans will be necessary.
I am committed to ensuring our community provides an outstanding lifestyle and value now and into the future. Working with the community and the other board members, we can further improve our community.
I ask for your support and vote to become elected to the board of directors. Thank you for your time and consideration.
